Comcast Business Now Offering Multi-Gigabit Ethernet in KC Area

February 14, 2017

The push for high-speed broadband by private and public organizations is being made because once the technology is in place, it opens many business and educational opportunities for the communities in which it becomes available. The latest such examples are Kansas City, Missouri and Olathe, Kansas, two locations Comcast Business Ethernet Services has announced it is going to be providing with multi-gigabit Ethernet services. The new service will offer organizations a fiber-based connectivity that is secure and highly scalable with capabilities that will introduce new levels of efficiency for businesses, employee productivity and growth opportunity beyond Kansas City, Missouri and the U.S.

The impact of this new investment by Comcast and what it will mean to businesses in the community at large was conveyed by Hap Graff, president and CEO of the Independence Chamber of Commerce, who stated, “As a growing and vibrant innovation hub, our businesses need the latest technology to compete in today’s world of immediate commerce and communications. We thank Comcast for their commitment to our region.”

According to Comcast, the expansion it is making in this region is going to provide businesses with access to a comprehensive portfolio of multi-Gigabit Ethernet options to address a wide range of industries. This includes healthcare, government, education, finance and others with high bandwidth demand, as well as those that are planning to connect their offices to a third-party data center or linking to multiple sites or branch locations.

The services Comcast will be providing include Ethernet Private Line, Ethernet Virtual Private Line, Ethernet Network Service and Ethernet Dedicated Internet. These connections are going to provide organizations the infrastructure they need to access and deliver bandwidth intensive applications, whether it is single or multiple locations between customers’ LANs and the public internet, while being able to tailor bandwidth, performance characteristics and cost.

“We are excited to bring businesses in our Kansas City service area an entirely new range of product offerings. Organizations of all sizes now have access to the same cutting-edge, fiber-based technologies that were once limited to only the largest companies. With our advanced network and dedicated local resources, we are committed to serving customers with speed and reliability,” said Kalyn Hove, vice president of Comcast Business.

In addition to the multi-gigabit Ethernet services, Comcast has also announced it is going to be offering large businesses in the Kansas City suburban area Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Trunking.
