Duxbury Networking Adds New Multi-gigabit Backhaul Capacity
The operators of today's telecommunications infrastructure have to make connections across multiple network topologies. And as consumers and organizations continue to access high-bandwidth services, backhaul systems have to scale to address existing and future capacity requirements. South Africa's Duxbury Networking announced it is making the BridgeWave Communications’ new Flex4G-5000 new E-band (70/80 GHz) microwave backhaul system available to its customers to provide a multi-gigabit solution for different applications.
For telecommunications operators, the BridgeWave technology will provide carrier grade features with a radio system that is capable of supporting highly integrated RF and spectrally efficient signal processing across long link distances while maintaining multi-gigabit speeds. In addition to these capabilities, the Flex4G-5000 lowers the cost-per-megabit pricing so enterprises, mobile operators and service providers can experience a lower total cost of ownership.
“These ultra-high capacity systems boast increased system gain for the highest throughput at the longest distance. Each model offers operators an alternative to fibre in dense urban areas and provides public and private network operators with a backhaul system that quickly scales to meet future capacity requirements,” said Andy Robb, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking.
Released in January of 2017, the Flex4G-5000 80GHz ANSI and ETSI millimeter wave radio systems deliver multiple configuration capabilities. For the ANSI system, it can provide up to 5.35Gbps full duplex capacity per radio, and is scalable to 10.7Gbps in a 2+0 configuration. The ETSI system, on the other hand, delivers 4.7Gbps full duplex throughput per radio and scales to 9.4Gbps in a 2+0 configuration.
Both ANSI and ETSI feature increased system gain to ensure the highest throughput at the longest distances available in the market with ultra-high capacity, this according to BridgeWave. This allows public and private network operators an alternative to fiber for urban deployments while at the same time delivering a backhaul system that can quickly scale to address current and future capacity.
The Flex4G-5000 brings together advanced radio and modem capabilities with carrier-grade 10G Ethernet, CPRI, and SONET/SDH. Some of the other features include: radio link aggregation that combines capacity from multiple radios to a single Ethernet cable; adaptive Code Modulation to 64QAM ANSI or 256QAM ETSI; Automatic Transmit Power Control; low power consumption and Power-over-Ethernet options; and available 256-bit AES encryption.
For the South African market, the availability of the Flex4G-5000 new E-band (70/80 GHz) system's multi-gigabit links is going to give operators a platform that will make it possible to easily transition to 5G when the technology becomes available.
