Multi-gigabit Ethernet Week in Review: Brocade, NETGEAR, Computex & More

June 17, 2017

The network is at the heart of operations. Digital transformation is driving change and serving as a bridge to tomorrow’s requirements. The solution: multi-gigabit Ethernet. So, with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look back at the week that was in multi-gigabit Ethernet news: Time for the Week in Review!

Leading off the news this week, Brocade announced the arrival of new wired and wireless solutions, including the multi-gigabit R720 Access point and the ICX wired switching portfolio. IDC Senior Research Analyst Nolan Greene said, “The announcement that Ruckus will expand its solution set by fully incorporating wired Ethernet switching into its portfolio makes absolute sense and was expected as part of the acquisition announcement from ARRIS earlier this year.” TMC’s Paula Bernier offers complete coverage HERE.

The ‘Billion Ethernet Port Opportunity’ is more real today than ever, showcased this week by 650 Group. A recent report from the organization highlights a surge in multi-gigabit Ethernet ports, noting that in the past quarter the market saw the arrival of products requiring more than 1G in mass. TMC’s Michael Guta has everything you need to know HERE.

Industry events serve to showcase innovation, build relationships and networking circles. Last week’s Computex did just that and more, with 10 gigabit Ethernet taking center stage. While typical network modernization efforts are utilizing 2.5G and 5G, the growing prevalence of 10G solutions will aid in accelerating adoption. One such solution from AKiTiO turned some heads, as it personifies the multi-gigabit movement. All the details are HERE.

NETGEAR made the news this week, unveiling the newest member of the NETGEAR 802.11ac family, the ProSAFE Premium 802.11ac 4x4 Wireless Access Point. “Our customers are looking for ultra-robust, reliable wireless solutions that leverage the improved performance enabled by the latest 802.11ac WiFi technology, and which make it easy for them to add more users to their networks quickly and in denser deployment scenarios,” noted Marthesh Nagendra, Country Manager, India and SAARC, NETGEAR. TMC’s Paula Bernier provides complete coverage HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for all things multi-gigabit Ethernet. See you next week!
