New Hardened PoE+ Switches Feature DMS
Transition Networks Inc. has introduced new hardened PoE+ switches that employ the company’s Device Management System technology. The company says the new SISPM1040-384-LRT-C and SISPM1040-362-LRT solutions make managing IP-based powered devices like IP-based security cameras easier and lower cost.
The new switches are designed for use in harsh environments. That includes chemical factories, oil and gas manufacturing scenarios, and outdoor enclosures. They can operate in environments with temperatures ranging from -40°C to +75°C. And they have been Class I Division 2 Certified to ensure reliable connectivity in hazardous locations.
Because these switches will sometimes be deployed in dangerous locations and truck rolls for maintenance are expensive, Transition Networks has built remote management capabilities into them. For example, their Auto Power Reset feature allows the switches to automatically restart edge devices in the event of glitches, lock-ups, or power failures.
The switches also allow for the troubleshooting of cable and IP connection issues. They can monitor and analyze traffic by day, week, port, or device. And they can conduct health checks with thresholds and auto-alarm on error conditions.
Transition Networks says these switches with the DMS technology are easy for security integrators to install as well. They allow for auto discovery and remotely configure IP-attached powered devices. That can be done via various views, such as a graphical topology view, floor view, or using Google Maps mapping service.
The SISPM1040-384-LRT-C has eight 10/100/1000Base-T PoE+ ports and four 100/1000Base-X SFP ports. The SISPM1040-362-LRT switch come with four 10/100/1000Base-T PoE+ ports, two 10/100/1000Base-T ports, and two 100/1000Base-X SFP ports.
Both switches allow for full front-access design, are IEEE 802.3at compliant and Trade Agreement Act-compliant for GSA contracts, have slim form factors, and supply up to 30 Watts per port. And both support G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection Switching and the IEEE 1588 v2 Precision Time Protocol.
