Marvell Makes Infotainment Ethernet Secure
As a child, waiting for Christmas or one’s birthday can feel like forever. Whether it’s a week, a month or six months, patience can prove quite difficult to come across. For networking engineers, developing our smart future, I’ve just told the story of the Internet of Things. It’s been some time now that across the networking world, networking modernization is a must to support the expected barrage from the billions of connected devices projected to drive trillions in the way of revenue.
While connected cars aren’t quite there yet for the mainstream, infotainment is receiving a facelift, with connectivity enabling the evolution. Today, Marvell unveiled the industry’s first secure gigabit Ethernet switch, providing all data streamed to and from the car is secure.

In our multi-gigabit world, a modern network is mission critical. And when it comes to the car, and in-vehicle entertainment the appropriate security precautions and bandwidth are at the top of the list. Marvel developed the new Ethernet switches in full compliance with the IEEE802.3 and 802.1 standards; and in deploying the solution, one can sleep soundly knowing it leverages a deep packet inspection engine couple with trusted boot functionality to start security at the hardware level.
Another point of note, the new Ethernet switch is AEC-Q100 qualified, and supports up to 1Gbps interfaces with five integrated 100BASE-T1 physical interfaces capable of connecting with Marvell’s 1000BASE-T1 PHY.
