Multi-gigabit Ethernet Week in Review: Ethernet Alliance, ADTRAN, Marvell & More

July 29, 2017

Network requirements are growing at a rapid rate. Thanks to a growing IoT presence, our SaaSy reality and digital transformation (in general), more is demanded of networks than ever before. This is driving a movement toward network modernization and multi-gigabit Ethernet. And, with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look back at the week that was in multi-gigabit Ethernet news: Time for the Week in Review!

As we wait with bated breath for the IoT to reach its full potential, innovation is serving to satiate. Autonomous vehicles are still a ways away from mainstream, but car connectivity is coming along nicely. This week, Marvell unveiled the industry’s first secure gigabit Ethernet switch, ensuring all data streamed to and from the car is secure. Complete coverage is HERE.

Also in the news, Inside Sercure introduced new MACsec IP cores, which put companies on the path to 400Gbps networking. Not to mention, improved power efficiency; security for IoT, analytics, big data and Artificial Intelligence applications; and flexible line rate throughput. TMC’s Paula Bernier brings you all the details HERE.

The Ethernet Alliance is a group aimed at advancing Ethernet via advocacy, interoperability initiatives and education. Comprised of industry experts, university representatives, component and system suppliers in addition to government parties; the member roster grew by six this week. TMC’s Paula Bernier offers insight and analysis HERE.

U.K. service provider Call Flow turned to ADTRAN for aid in its symmetric multi-gigabit fiber to home initiative. The Call Flow network is currently running a 100 Mbps fiber-to-the-cabinet deployment, the firm plans on deploying XGS-PON, a 10Gbps broadband standard, to bridge the gap between FTTH and NG-PON2. Everything you need to know is HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for all things multi-gigabit Ethernet. See you next week!
