Multi-gigabit Ethernet Week in Review: Aquantia, Dell, Attala & More

August 19, 2017

Network requirements are growing at a rapid rate. Thanks to a growing IoT presence, our SaaSy reality and digital transformation (in general), more is demanded of networks than ever before. This is driving a movement toward network modernization and multi-gigabit Ethernet. And, with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look back at the week that was in multi-gigabit Ethernet news: Time for the Week in Review!

The 2017 Flash Memory Summit recently took place in Santa Clara, California, where Attala and Intel showcased Attala tech paired with Intel FPGAs highlighting why Attala Systems Inc took home a Most Innovative Memory Technology Best of Show award. TMC’s Paula Bernier breaks everything down HERE.

Also in the news this week, Aquantia and Dell have partnered to move beyond antiquated PC systems, to offer multi-gigabit capabilities for Dell’s OptiPlex 7050 series. This will be the first group of PCs to ship with the AQtion AQN-108 5 Gigabit Ethernet Interface Card (NIC) as an option when ordering.  “The explosion of PC Multi-Gig capabilities into the client connectivity space is being led by innovative industry leaders like Dell,” said Kamal Dalmia, senior vice president of marketing and sales at Aquantia. “Aquantia and Dell recognize that each business is unique in its connectivity profile – and we are pleased to offer a choice that can help any enterprise meet its business objectives.” Complete coverage is HERE.

This coming November, the Metro Ethernet Forum – MEF17 to be exact – will take place in Orlando, where IT training and learning systems firm Tech 2000 Inc. will be providing its services. "We are proud to be a MEF accredited training provider," said Kevin Marz, Director of Training and Development at Tech 2000. "Throughout our many years with MEF, we have had the opportunity to educate countless communications professionals. Together, Tech 2000 and MEF are well poised to address the skills challenge in getting professionals ready for this new world of software-driven networking. We look forward to providing the MEF-CECP and MEF-TNF one-day training at MEF17." All the details are HERE.

Hexa Research projects the global Ethernet cable market to reach $1.42 billion by 2024. Growth will be driven by growing demand for data center installations, broadband Internet services and more. Hexa explains, “Copper cable dominated the global market and is growing at a CAGR of 10 percent over the forecast period owing to its ability to provide high-speed connectivity at a low price, and are the most viable choice in industrial applications.” The full article is HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for all things multi-gigabit Ethernet. See you next week!
