PacketFabric Sets Up Shop at Telehouse

August 30, 2017

Network-as-a-Service platform company PacketFabric is now operating out of Telehouse’s data center on Staten Island. By the end of the year, it will be up and running at the company’s other U.S. facilities.

As a result of this partnership, customers in Telehouse’s U.S. Tier 3 data centers can access PacketFabric’s cloud service provider, internet exchange point, and internet service provider services. PacketFabric, which runs a software-defined network, expands its U.S. footprint and over-the-top service offerings as part of the deal.

“Telehouse has been expanding our connectivity and cloud solutions both domestically and globally as we continuously seek to offer greater flexibility and choice to our data center customers,” says Akio Sugeno of Telehouse America. “We expect more deployments with the addition of new global locations coming on the PacketFabric network this year.” (Sugeno is vice president of Internet engineering, operations, and business development.)

There are 48 data centers within the Telehouse worldwide footprint. Two of them are in New York, at 85 Tenth Ave. in Chelsea and 7 Teleport Drive on Staten Island. The company also has a California data center, at 626 Wilshire Blvd., in Los Angeles.

PacketFabric has locations in Atlanta; Chicago; Dallas; the D.C./Virginia area; the Los Angeles metropolitan area; Minneapolis; Phoenix; Portland, Ore.; Seattle; and Silicon Valley.

PacketFabric’s leadership includes CEO William Charnock, formerly the COO for The Planet and vice president of engineering for SoftLayer, which IBM bought for $2 billion. Richard Steenbergen is CTO. He founded nLayer Communications, which GTT Communications bought.

Jezzibell Gilmore, PacketFabric’s senior vice president of business development, was an early employee at both AboveNet Communications and Akamai, and was vice president of business development for GTT. And Anna Claiborne is PacketFabric’s senior vice president of software engineering. She co-founded Prolexic Technology, which Akamai now owns, and she previously was a product development manager at Terremark and vice president of engineering at 6connect.
